Good habits for new traders
Most beginners lose money for the same few reasons. These habits avoid them, and each one is shown with example money.

Basahin sa FilipinoWhy not put everything in one coin?
If that one coin crashes, everything crashes with it. Spreading your money means one bad coin hurts less.
| $1,000 split | Coin A −50% | Coin B +10% | Coin C 0% | Coin D −10% | You end with |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| All in A | $500 | — | — | — | $500 |
| $250 in each | $125 | $275 | $250 | $225 | $875 |
Why buy a little at a time?
Nobody knows the best day to buy. Buying the same amount regularly (traders call it DCA) means you get more coins when the price is low.
| Month | Price | $100 a month buys | $300 all at once buys |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $100 | 1 coin | 3 coins |
| 2 | $50 | 2 coins | — |
| 3 | $80 | 1.25 coins | — |
| Total | 4.25 coins (worth $340) | 3 coins (worth $240) |
It does not always win, but it stops one unlucky day from deciding everything.
Why decide when to sell before I buy?
Once you own a coin, emotions take over: you hope it comes back, or you sell in a panic. A plan made beforehand keeps you calm.
Buy $100 of a coin. My plan: If it reaches $120 (+20%) → sell and keep the profit If it falls to $90 (−10%) → sell and keep the loss small
How do I spot a scam?
- "Guaranteed" profits or "double your money": nobody can promise that.
- Someone asks you to send them crypto or your password, even "to help".
- Pressure to act right now before you can think.
- A stranger who wants to manage your money for you.
Tradeground never asks for real money or your password. Practice money cannot be sent anywhere.
Why practise before using real money?
Every trader makes mistakes at the start. On Tradeground they cost pretend money: you get real prices and real lessons, and nothing real is lost.
- 1Make a few small trades and watch them for a week.
- 2Check your profit and loss on the Portfolio page.
- 3Try a habit from this page, like buying a little at a time, and compare.
